Reference Point

Reference Point는 서로 다른 장소와 맥락에서 수집된 이미지 속 대상들을 하나의 연속적인 흐름 안에서 재구성하는 생성형 작품이다. 각 대상은 서로 다른 규모와 형태를 가진 채 화면에 등장하고, 그중 하나가 기준점이 되면서 이후의 대상들은 그 기준에 따라 변형되고 서로 연결된다. 기준점과 등장 순서는 매 사이클마다 달라지며, 같은 이미지 집합에서도 서로 다른 관계와 구성이 새롭게 만들어진다. 작품은 고정된 하나의 구성을 제시하기보다, 무엇을 기준으로 삼는가에 따라 대상의 크기와 관계, 그리고 전체의 모습이 어떻게 달라지는지를 보여준다. 웹에서 발생하는 각각의 재생은 서로 다른 순서와 기준점을 가지며, 완성된 사이클은 작품이 재생되어 온 누적된 시간으로 기록된다. Reference Point is a generative artwork that recomposes subjects found in images collected from different places and contexts into a continuous flow. Each subject appears on screen with its own scale and form. As one becomes the reference point, those that follow are transformed and connected in relation to it. The reference point and order of appearance change with every cycle, creating new relationships and compositions from the same set of images. Rather than presenting a single fixed composition, the work reveals how the scale and relationships of its subjects, and the appearance of the whole, change according to what is taken as the reference. Each playback on the web unfolds with a different sequence and reference point. Completed cycles are recorded as the work’s cumulative running time.
